Your Body - IntroOne of the most overlooked aspects of exercise, including cycling, is proper nutrition, rest and listening to your body. As the old saying goes, 'breakfast is the most important meal of the day'. How important is it? Well you really do not want to find out trying to ride up a hill after hours of riding. For training, taking care of yourself helps make riding possible. 'Eating to roll', is the idea that the body needs certain types of minerals, fats, and vitamins to help you ride successfully. How, when and what you drink are also keys to making progress in your riding goals. Eating too little or too much at the wrong time will adversely affect performance and make your ride even more difficult. Eating improperly will compound your eventual fatigue and eventually make you sick. Along with eating, there are a number of other things riders should do to prepare their bodies for the rigors of cycling. They include proper sleep, streching and light to moderate exercise. These along with understanding your bike and the relationship you have with it will help make you a better cyclist. Jump to any section by using the table of contents on the left, but probably start with what you do well before you ride, the Pre-Pre Ride work. Many of the images in this section are from the Microsoft Clip Art Gallery. |
