Ride Details

The One Day, One Ride, One Cause event has several components; each is important as we come together to make this event special and successful. Plase click on the following links:

  • Route - Where are you going? This page will tell you.

  • Riders - The most important components of the ride. The riders are exerting the effort, making the ride possible.

  • Sweep/Sag support are those in cars and trucks that follow and protect the riders while out on the course. If a rider needs assistance, the sweep are there to help.

  • Volunteers help make the ride work. Volunteers set up the pit stops, cover them, take down the pits and do everything in between.

Before you get started, whether you are a rider, sweep or volunteer; your first trip should be to your doctor. Check to see if you are healthy enough to engage in rigorous exercise. This is important because the ride and the elements are tough enough. Do not compound a serious heath condition with the rigors of riding a bike for 40 miles.

Riders

Despite what many people think, you cannot just buy a bike one day and ride in the Tour De France the next. For you to ride successfully and finish with energy and a sense of accomplishment, you will have to train intelligently, buy shrewdly, and eat properly.

Training

BBSSU is not only the ride organizer but also will train you for the ride. Even though the ride is only about 40 miles, we want you to be able to ride over 50 miles in about 4 hours! Why? Because we want you to be as... more...

BuyGuide

Biking is a fun way to enjoy nature, exercise, and even help the environment; however, it can be expensive. To help you understand the basic concepts of bikes and how to get the most bang for your biking buck we have come up with the BuyGuide. The purpose of this guide is to help you understand some of the basic concepts of a bike that you can read before or after your first bike shop visit... more...

Your Body

One of the most overlooked aspects of exercise, including cycling, is proper nutrition. As the old saying goes, 'breakfast is the most important meal of the day'. How important is it? Well you really do not want to find out trying to ride up a hill after hours of riding... More...

Sweep/Sag Support and Volunteers

Sweep/Sag Support follow riders and help them finish the ride. Sweep provide water and food.

The volunteers will help on the day of the ride to make sure things are prepared at the pits and at the start/finish line. We are going to need a lot of volunteers to make the ride successful. Training will be offered for both volunteers and sweep and is required for participation. If you are interest in participarting, please contact Valerie, so that we can put you on our volunteer list.

*Please note. The general route of the ride is still being determined. We are working with the District to find the safest route. After the route is finalized we will post that information on this page.
