Online Registration through Active.com

Active.com is a website that information about sports and recreational activities, facilities, venues and classes. It also provides registration services for events.

Active.com charges a processing fee to process any monetary transaction including ride registration and donations.

The fee structure is as follows:

active fees

For example, the normal ride registration fee of $50 would total $54.25 ($50 + 6.5% + $1) The same fee structure applies for donations.

Online Donations through Active.com

Once a rider registers, Active.com allows riders to create a website that collects donations. These donations are processed through Active.com and have the same processing fee structure as registrations.

This fee covers the cost to fulfill each participant's registration and includes services like taking and maintaining the registration data on the Active.com's systems. Depending on the amount given, the processing fee could be very high. A donation of $500 would cost $23 (2.5% plus $5.50).

To show transparency, processing fees are paid by those making the donation. Most other sites do not show this and instead deduct the processing fee from the actual donation. With an upfront the processing fee, 100% of the donation goes to the ride beneficiaries thanks to the generosity of the donors.

We encourage those making donations to mail them along with the donation form to:

BBSSU - One Day, One Ride, One Cause Charity Ride
P.O. Box 33712
Washington, DC 20033

Please make sure to include the name of the rider in the memo section of the check. This will help us more easily match donations to riders. There is no processing fee assessed donations sent by mail (other than postage).

Please visit the Active.com faq sheet for more details about their processing fees and purposes. If you have general questions about registration, please contact randall@1day1ride1cause.org
