HIV / AIDS
Because AIDS is still FATAL and there is still no CURE.
HIV and AIDS Have Not Disappeared. In
our nation's capital, a city with an estimated 1 in 20
persons are possibly infected by HIV and AIDS, BBSSU (a cycling club) and a coalition of AIDS-related organizations come together to help make a difference.
On August 17, 2008, the
One Day, One Ride, One Cause charity bike ride will travel throughout the 8 Wards of the
District of Columbia to raise awareness and funds to combat HIV / AIDS in the
community.
Our mission is to:
- (1) Bring awareness to the community that the District has the highest rate of newly-diagnosed HIV/AIDS cases in the United States;
- (2) Educate the community in preventing the spread of the disease; and
- (3) Raise funds for eight (8) HIV/AIDS-related organizations that provide care and services toDistrict of Columbia children, teens, adults and families infected with and/or impacted by HIV/AIDS.
With a minimum of only $100* to raise / donate and a $50 registration fee, you can
make a difference in the lives of children, men and women affected by AIDS in the District and the surrounding community; and maybe you can make a difference in your own life. We cannot do this without you.
